The Peace Foundation holds involvement in peace and unification in the Korean peninsula as its main objective.

The Korean peninsula was grievously afflicted by colonialist rule during the Japanese occupation and after its emancipation, was divided into the North and South by the great powers.

Millions lost their lives while the Korean peninsula lived through the war as the scapegoat of the Cold War. For over half a century, it experienced much strife and conflict through the ideological struggles of cold war antagonism.

The Peace Foundation seeks to take an active part in resolving such pain and affliction caused by the peninsula¡¯s past struggles. It holds peace settlement and unification within the North and South as its main objective.

Firstly, it seeks to ease the heightened tension caused by the North Korean nuclear issue, perform a turnabout of the cessation of hostilities that has been continuing since the armistice, and construct a war-free, durable peace structure within the Korean peninsula.

Secondly, it seeks to overcome the 60-year partition of the Korean peninsula and forge onward toward unification by the North and South both acknowledging and understanding their different systems, wiping away the painful stains of cold war antagonism, and pursuing common interest through cooperative exchange.

Thirdly, it seeks to contribute to the collaborative prosperity and harmony of East Asia, with the hope that the endeavor for peaceful unification within the Korean peninsula will help and not harm the interests of Northeast Asia and its surrounding countries.

Also, as a nongovernmental organization, the Peace Foundation is impartial to a particular ideology, doctrine, or political party. It seeks to contribute to the materialization of a peaceful world by garnering national consent and bringing an end to strife and structural violence.
